Did you hear that splash? That was the sound made when BB and CC creams hit U.S. markets in 2012, followed immediately by an overwhelming flood of formulations so vast, it probably has your head spinning. Originally developed in Germany in the 1960’s, the skin perfecting properties of these darlings of the cosmetics industry have been enjoyed by European and Asian women for years, and now we can readily enjoy them too. If you have not yet taken one of these babies out for a test drive, let us break it down for you 2Orchids style. We’re going to explain the difference between BB’s and CC’s, why we love them, and what which products we are currently using.
A BB cream, or Beauty Balm, is formulated to moisturize, prime, and give coverage similar to that of a light foundation. BB’s will sometimes offer a sunscreen property as well. A CC Cream – better known as a Color Correcting Cream, is formulated to tackle redness, blemishes, imperfections and even out overall skin tone, all while providing instant and sometimes protective coverage. Both products will help shave time off your daily makeup routine, and offer multiple makeup benefits all from one tube!
Tip: You will notice that the amount of coverage will vary between brands.
