Ahh, now we can smell the roses everyday with Vibrant Sexy Hair Rose Elixir by Sexy Hair. A spray oil with the lovely scent of a rose that we can use from our heads to our toes! You know that we are suckers for a good fragrance. So many times, the scent alone is enough reason to purchase a particular product. Talk about reaping the benefits of an oil, mist, and elixir all from one simple spray. Our hair care and body care this time of year definitely needs a little TLC, so the timing of being introduced to this product couldn’t be better. Let’s start with the hair. As you already know, Karen and I have two different textures of hair, with Lauren’s being thick and Karen’s more fine. Due to the cold winter season, our hair is feeling dryer than normal. We both sprayed The Rose Elixir with Rose & Almond Oil to the ends of our damp hair. It provided just enough moisture to keep it looking healthy and full of life, with the sexy scent of a rose and just a hint of almond. After styling, and another spray on dry hair, the finish was smooth and silky, not heavy or greasy in any way. Surprisingly, it did not weigh down the hair, which was a concern for Karen. We’ve now incorporated Rose Elixir into our daily skincare routine as well. For that extra boost of hydration to the skin, we apply directly after towel drying. It’s so easy, just spray and go. Plus, the scent is fresh and amazing! It is definitely our new essential that will carry us well beyond winter!

Our skin might be fighting the winter blues, but one quick sweep of any of these gorgeous powders by The Hourglass Ambient Lighting on our face, and we instantly do a happy dance! We are no strangers when it comes to ambient powders by Hourglass and we’ve always admired the high quality and performance of their products. This limited edition palette which made it’s debut this past holiday season gives us everything we need to finish, contour, brighten, and highlight our skin. The blush naturally blends onto the skin giving a subtle, but lovely flush of color. The bronzer is a well pigmented shade that doesn’t appear muddy and the highlight gives a natural, buildable glow. We love the beautiful, luminous pop of light it gives our skin without looking too overdone or shiny. That is a big concern, especially for Lauren with combination skin. At our age, we try to avoid anything with too much glitter. The powders feel and look luxurious on our skin. It’s a little bit of a splurge for us, but like other Hourglass products, it’s well worth it and simply gorgeous. The exterior of the palette is made of a sturdy plastic case with faux marble accent and gold lettering. It’s also the perfect size to throw into your makeup bag for that upcoming vacation. The compliments keep come rolling in with this one!
A New Year means a New You! Let us introduce Myotone, a non-invasive microcurrent facial toning unit that will allow you to fight the signs of aging safely from your own home. With regular use, Myotone diminishes fine lines and wrinkles, improves facial contour, and lifts and tones skin. You can now skip that pricey dermatologist visit by using this handy, simple, toning device that will help rejuvenate and renew your face, for a more youthful appearance. As you should know by now, Karen and I take our skincare seriously. We are continuously interested in effective ways to improve our routines that will provide more immediate benefits and results on anti-aging. The device delivers micro current impulses to strategic locations of the face. These electrical impulses are designed to mimic the brain’s natural currents to tighten and tone sagging, wrinkled skin and reeducate the muscles so that they stay firmer longer. We were excited to accept the Myotone 21 day challenge. Lauren used the device concentrating on her jawline and eye area. Karen focused on her jawline and neck area. Did we see results? We sure did! Will we continue to use Myotone as part of our daily skincare routine? Absolutely! For our full review of how to use Myotone safely and effectively, your 2 Orchids have provided you with a video. We hope you enjoy!

They could have called it spectacular. They could have called it remarkable. They could have called it fantastic. They all describe what truly is the Amazing Concealer/Correcteur. What makes it amazing you ask? It camouflages all of our skins blemishes and imperfections, period!! Redness, broken capillaries, sun spots, and acne literally vanish. It even covers and hides those unwanted dark, under the eye, circles. This full coverage, highly pigmented concealer is available in 20 shades, which makes finding the perfect match to your skin tone easy for everyone. One would think that because it’s full coverage that it would have a heavy feeling, but that is not the case. A little definitely goes a long way, it doesn’t clog our pores, crease or sink into fine lines. The concealer is long lasting, and most importantly it is natural looking!
After Karen applies her MAC Cosmetics Prep + Prime Natural Radiance Base and her IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC + Cream with SPF 50 +, she will warm her Amazing Concealer in the color light beige between her two fingers. Then she dabs and blends (using her fingers) onto her under-eyes covering her dark circles. The next step is to set the concealer with RCMA No-Color Powder. Lauren applies her Amazing Concealer in the color medium beige using a small flat makeup brush or beauty blender, concentrating on the nose and eye areas. After her Kat Von D Lock-It Hydrating Primer and Lancome Teint Idole 24HR Ultra Liquid Foundation, the concealer is used to erase redness on the nose and the discoloration in the corners and beneath the eyes. The concealer is then set with Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder and Secret Brightening Powder For Under Eyes. We were blown away and impressed with the performance of this multipurpose product. In fact, this has quickly become our new holy grail of concealers. Simply Amazing and a must-have for turning problematic skin into a flawless complexion!

Recipe & Ingredients:
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup sugar
1 cup vegetable oil
pinch of salt
3 1/2 -4 cups of all purpose flour
Anise Oil (start with 1/2 teaspoon, add to to taste)
Preheat pizzelle iron and spray with some cooking oil. In a large mixing bowl, beat eggs then add sugar, oil, and anise oil. Mix in flour, baking powder, and salt. Drop batter (one tablespoonful) onto hot pizzelle iron. Close and clamp the lid to cook for 30 seconds.
Pizzelles should be a nice, light-medium, golden brown. Remove with spatula from iron and cool on wire rack or baking towels. Store in an airtight container. Remaining batter can be refrigerated to be used at a later time.
As long as we can remember, Italian Pizzelle Cookies have been a part of our Italian-American subculture. This old family, traditional Italian cookie was part of every festive holiday, weddings, baptisms, and family celebrations. Today, we are keeping that family tradition going by baking the pizzelles, and passing our family recipe down to the next generation. As young children, we remember waking up to the wonderful scent of anise (which smells similar to licorice), wafting through the house and couldn’t wait to gobble up our favorite cookies with a glass of milk. The cookies are light and crisp, and easy to make with a pizzelle iron (yet have a tendency to test our patience, haha!). The best part is you can customize the flavor of the cookie by adding as little or as much of the anise oil as you like. You can also substitute the anise oil for other flavors such as vanilla extract, almond extract, lemon, orange, or chocolate. Some prefer adding jam on top of the cookie, or even a little powdered sugar. Lauren’s grandma added anise seeds to hers, which will also give it that signature anise flavor. They taste as delicious as they look!
